Bastet is the Egyptian goddess of protection, pleasure, and health. She has a cat's head and a delicate female form. It was believed that each day, she would ride with her father, the sun god Ra, through the air. She would watch over and defend him as his boat carried the sun across the sky. At night, she would transform into a cat to protect Ra from Apep, his deadliest adversary.
