Kali, like many gods and goddesses in the Hindu tradition has many forms and aspects. Some of the aspects attributed to her are: time, destruction, creation, and change. She is frequently used as a strong symbol of the divine feminine and is considered by adherents to be the mother of all, and like most mothers is very protective of her children. Shown in this statue in her most frequently seen four-armed form with her right foot on top of Shiva.
