Hecate is a Greek goddess who was also known as both good and evil. She was linked to witchcraft, magic, the moon, and animals of the night such as hellhounds and spirits. She's frequently depicted as a goddess with three faces, one for each facet of her influence: watching over the crossroads, being associated with the lunar cycle. Hecate was one of the most important gods worshiped in Athenian homes as a guardian deity; shrines to Hecate were built at entrances with the hope that she would protect people from dead souls and malevolent spirits.
