Hathor is one of many Solar centric deities within Egyptian mythology. She is seen frequently as a goddess of motherhood but also has ties to music, dance and celebration and rides with Ra on his barque across the sky. Sometimes depicted as a cow, in this statue she is in human form with a solar disc on her head to accentuate her solar characteristics.
