About Citrine:
Named for its color similar to the citron fruit, Citrine is a golden yellowish variety of Crystal Quartz. It is said to be particularly powerful in protecting its wearer from nightmares and psychic attacks. Because it is a form of Quartz, Citrine is attributed to have qualities for improving psychic and energy work.
Natural Citrine is extremely rare and most commercially available stones are not true Citrines. The variety we carry are instead heat-treated Amethysts (a purple variety of quartz) which are commonly traded as stand-ins for Citrines. It is interesting to note the transformation of the deep purple Amethyst stone into the golden sunny Citrine when exposed to sunlight. We feel that this process is inherently magical as Amethyst (said to be excellent for guiding dreams and balancing emotions) moves into Citrine with these qualities elevated to a more assertively protective level.
