Bastet is an Egyptian goddess of protection, pleasure, and health. She has the head of a cat and the body of a beautiful woman. Each day, she would ride with her father, the sun god Ra, in the air on her trusty golden chariot. She would watch over and defend him as his boat sailed across the sky during the day. At night she would change form into a cat to keep Apep from harming Ra.
