About Nephrite Jade:

One of two different minerals called Jade, Nephrite Jade was once thought to be identical to Jadeite until the 1800s when it was discovered to have a different chemical makeup. That said, Jadeite and Nephrite share similar qualities that can be difficult to distinguish from one another to the naked eye. This stone shares the same rich history as its cousin and has been used across the world over many centuries in art, ornamentation, jewelry, and even the creation of musical instruments. It has also been a part of many sacred and magical traditions around the world, including in China, throughout Africa, and by the Hopi people in America. This treasured stone was believed to have power over weather, health, love, wisdom, and protection, among many other things.

The Nephrite we carry exhibits the darker colors only seen in true Nephrite specimens— a deep olive green with darker flecks and inclusions that near black in color.

This receptive stone is excellent for meditation on a variety of subjects and employs a long history of ritual to pull inspiration from for talismanic use.
